Photos: Troops rescue 211 civilians, clear out Boko Haram terrorists out of northern Borno state


Following reported sighting of Boko Haram terrorists scavenging in some villages in northern Borno State, troops of 22 Brigade Garrison, Operation LAFIYA DOLE in conjunction with Civilian JTF, on Saturday embarked on fighting patrol to Cingal, Murye and Mala Maja villages and cleared them of the terrorists.
 
During an encounter, the troops neutralized one Boko Haram terrorist and recovered 11 bicycles. The patrol team also rescued 211 civilians held captives by Boko Haram terrorists at Murye and Mala Maja village.

122-degree heat wave breaks record in SoCal, planes grounded as temps soar

Temperatures in Riverside County’s deserts soared as high as 122 degrees Tuesday, breaking or tying records in two Coachella Valley cities and grounding planes at Palm Springs International Airport. The mercury reached 122 degrees in Thermal, breaking a one-year-old record, according to the National Weather Service. Palm Springs also reached 122 degrees, tying the city’s record high for the date.

Ivory Coast Qualifies For Africa Cup Of Nations

Ivory Coast drew 0-0 with Cameroon in a tepid match in Abidjan which saw the visitors finish with 10 men. The result sees Ivory Coast secure their qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations, beginning in January. After the match, Ivory Coast supporters invaded the pitch and appeared to be struck by police batons.
